Dear fellow UPHS Members,

It is with sadness I announce that our Editor Matt Zebrowski has decided to turn over the reigns for the Streamliner, he is working on completing issue 25-4.

A few days after accepting the role of Editor of the Streamliner his long time company, Honeywell decided to outsource the functions of the group Matt managed, pink slipping the entire organization. Matt was very fortunate to quickly gain a new position at University of California Los Angeles. It even offered a shorter commute, more time to work on the magazine and other UPHS documents! Not to be, the Professors soon learned about Matt’s excellence in design, graphics, cartography and attention to detail. He was soon engulfed in work and demand soon outstripped the gained commute time. Add on the complexity of editing the Streamliner and the work overcame the time available.

The good news, Marc Entze, an accomplished writer and researcher, has stepped up to be our new Editor. Marc teaches at Misericordia University in Pennsylvania, and until recently, Marc has always lived in Union Pacific Country and has a strong interest in Union Pacific Railroad history, operations and modeling. Because of his extensive research projects, Marc has connections with many archives and museums that have material of interest to the development of articles for the Streamliner. He spends his summers in the Pacific Northwest, particularly eastern Washington and northeast Oregon. In the week since the Board of Directors decided to hire Marc, he has already compiled a significant list of future article ideas, and we are in the process of moving the large John Signor files to him. There are numerous materials and submitted articles for him to build upon.

Please welcome Marc. It is the goal of the UPHS Board of Directors and Marc to have all magazines up to Fall 2012, the 26-4 issue printed and distributed before 2012 ends. Matt has the issue that was planned to arrive at your door step early November 2011, issue 25-4, nearly ready for the proof reading process. Just as soon as possible we will get it proofed and off to Ag Press for printing and distribution.

You can contact Marc at editor@uphs.org. He will place additional contact information in his first Streamliner, Winter 2012 issue, as well as outline his goals and areas he is seeking material and ideas.

It is the policy of UPHS that your membership dues are for four issues of the Streamliner, not a 12 month period. You will receive all four issues your dues entitles you to is the Board’s promise.

The 2012 Calendar has been printed and is on the way to your mailbox. I received mine Tuesday Dec. 27th way over here in Florida. Mike Connor, Calendar Chair and Lorie at Ag Press did yeomen’s work getting it completed and to you all.

Bob Krieger and I gathered content and Jonathan Signor used his publication layout skills to get the various elements of the Second Section together and it is at the printer now. It should be in the mail very soon. From the Business Car column makes the announcement of Matt’s decision to resign from the Streamliner and the appointment of Marc to replace him. Also in the newsletter is the official announcement of the publication of Tom Lee’s book on the M-10000 and other early Streamliners. John Signor the renowned editor/designer is doing the layout work and editing for us.
