Lynn T. Nystrom Cheyenne, Wyoming 1941-2010. Lynn passed away May 5, 2010 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 13, 1941 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Merle and Viola Nystrom (Nordmann).
On December 12, 1969 he married Mary F. Nystrom (Brandolino). She survives.
He served in the Navy as a radar tech during the Vietnam War. After getting out of the Navy he worked for the San Diego, CA and Albert Lea, MN Police departments before becoming a Special Agent for the Rock Island Railroad in Chicago, IL between 1968-1977. He moved to the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman/brakeman and worked up to a fireman and eventually to engineer. He joined the Union Pacific’s prestigious Steam Locomotive Crew and served as fireman/engineer from 1989 until his death.
Lynn had two sons from a previous marriage, Todd Nystrom and his wife Joann of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Scott Nystrom and his wife Lise of La Mesa, California. He had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Frances Brandolino, his aunts Harriet Stansberry and Margaret Nordmann, and numerous cousins and in-laws by marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Joseph Brandolino.
Services will be held at Schrader’s Funeral Home in Cheyenne on May 10th at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the organizations in which Lynn was an integral member, are welcomed.
